Volunteering in Kenya

It’s possible to do voluntework for the orphanages Blessed Generation in Kenya.  You can volunteer either in Ruiru, Nyamira or Malindi under the guidance of the local workers.  By giving Blessed Generation your time, energy and expertise, you will have a priceless life experience in return.

There are different kinds of work activities for volunteers

  • Organize creative and sport activities for the children.
  • Give administrative assistance at the office.
  • Tutor the children: remedial teacher, support the teachers.
  •  Technical and operational support for renovations.
  • Systematic and operational support for water, irrigation and electricity management.
  • Nursing
  • Support the set-up of income-generating projects.
  • Organize workshops on a certain subject. For example, first aid, writing resumes and job applications, literature, music, the environment, Europe.
  • Do on-the-spot chores.

The children are taken care of by the local staff. By doing this we prevent the children getting too attached to volunteers.

Are you excited about volunteering and would you like to have more information? Send Ria Fennema an e-mail.

The children’s homes are under Kenyan management. Together with Kenyan co-workers, Ria and her husband, Fester, work hard to give the children a chance in life.

Fester and Ria are doing this voluntarily. The Foundation Blessed Generation Nederland takes care of the living costs for Ria and her family, so they can carry on their great work.

In the meantime some orphans who were involved from the very beginning (among others, a teacher, owner of a bakery, a bank clerk, IT businessperson and beautician) have made their contribution as donors of Blessed Genation.
